My eyes could not scan the action scenes fast enough in Out for Blood by Ryan Steck. The author did an amazing job of creating a wild puzzle, then placed Redd and his enemies into realistic scenarios that ratcheted the suspense. Emotions ran high and egos placed innocent lives in jeopardy. A few scenes almost made my heart stop with worry for Matty, Lucas, and Rubble the rottweiler. I didn’t know who would survive the story.
With lines like “…looking like a pint-sized Eastwood from an old spaghetti western…” I had a few laughs while enemies and friendlies dropped like flies. This is not comedy, but an ex-Marine Raider cowboy who cherishes his family and an arsenal of trained operatives gives Out For Blood an adrenaline rush that is unmatched.
I love the survivors’ guilt aspect that came back from the first book to parallel the lives of Redd and his father. Trust me, this is an incredible thriller and a fun read.
